	MONOFILAMENT POLYDIOXANONE Suture The ideal synthetic absorbable suture known for its predictable absorption and high tensile strength.
	Characteristics and Benefits:
	Tensile Strength: 50% up to 28 days and wound support up to 60 days, this assures tissue support during the critical wound healing period and where extended wound support is required and helps safe closure of the tissue.   Absorption: RELYON PDS does not have collagen proteins, pyrogenous agents & its absorption is through hydrolysis, thus providing Minimal Tissue Reaction. Absorption takes place through "progressive hydrolytic action" complete in 180 days.   Handling: Excellent comfort while handling (smooth passage through tissue) and enhances firm and safe knotting.   Indications/Applications: It is indicated in all surgical procedures that absorbable sutures are recommended. These include Obstetrics & Gynaecological Surgery, Urology, Plastic Surgery, Orthopaedic Surgery and General Closure. Sizes 1 to 3-0 with various needle combinations are available.
	RELYON PDS Suture is a monofilament suture made of Polydioxanone.
	High Tensile Strength: RELYON PDS is twice as strong as catgut on equivalent diameter basis.   Smooth Tissue Passage: Extremely smooth Monofilament provides ease of tissue passage virtually eliminating tissue drag.   Handling: Excellent comfort while handling (smooth passage through tissue) and enhances firm and safe knotting.   Excellent Knot Security: Among all the synthetic absorbable suture materials available, RELYON PDS demonstrates the longest wound support with minimal tissue reaction. At 28 days RELYON PDS retains as much as 50% of its initial tensile strength. PDS provides wound support up to 60 days and disappears from the tissue at 180 days.
